Called all offices and left voice messages - read this action item too late in the day to be able to speak to the staff themselves.
Rep. Ciro's office did not put me to voice mail of immigration staff. Asked me if I belonged to IV - when I said yes, he said they have been receiving quite a few calls about 'those two bills' from ImmigrationVoice. He also said that since they receive a large volume of calls from their constituents as well, they have to be prioratized over us. He however promised to convey the 'ImmigrationVoice's' request to the Rep.

when is the next 485 inventory list due from USCIS?
also, apart from , does IV have a list pending users with PD and RD of 485?
It is the RD of the 485 application that dictates the order of processing the application. In addition, for the application to the processed the PD must be current. Once the PD is current, it is the RD that matters.

Has anyone started fundraising yet??. I did not. I need to work on recruiting 6 more people atleast into Team IV. We should have 50 people for the Cal. Event atleast. I need to work on the networking events as well
I have started my fundraising, but that is only because I have all the fundraising ideas in my head.
I will start sending out the Welcome Packages this week. The Welcome Package has a section for Fundraising and will help each Team IV Member reach his/her goal.
The first T Shirt order has also been placed, last week, I believe. I should be receiving this initial order by mail shortly and then I can mail out the T Shirts to those who have signed up thus far.

The Dolphin South End Runners Club has welcomed us for their Aug 17, 2008 event. I am hopeful that we can get a contingent of at least 20-30 Team IVians to walk run that event.

Just one point Slumdog -- You know, I have never seen anyone who rents, writing this kind of a story and justifying his decision. I wonder, why not? Why do YOU have to justify over here? Are you justifying to others or you are justifying to yourself?
You put too much stress on "quality of life". One can have a good quality of life in a small apartment.
I keep telling my wife that our apartment looks small only when she goes to department stores and shops like crazy. Our walk-in-closet is the nearest thing to a Black Hole. Mass density is so high in that area that pretty soon even light would not come out of it.
I strongly believe in "Simple Living, High Thinking". I can not say I implement it all the time, however, I try to keep it in my mind during my decision making process.

I refuse to get caughtup in the consumerism. Why a family of 3 or 4 needs 2000 sqft of living area? The quality of living is not the top most priority for me. What I need is more important. When I am happy with a small car, why should I go buy a SUV?
Instead of paying 2000$ a month for mortgage for a big house which would consume most of my time as well, I can pay 1200$ month in rent , use the money to have some flexibility in what I want to do and use the extra time to read a book.
One thing I noticed is people will just keep running in circles regardless of how much they make . They have expenses in proportion to their incomes and they are in a way slaves of their lifestyles.

When you called TSC prior to your GC approval, what did the IO at TSC tell you?
I'm asking because I know your RD was June 2007, when I called TSC today they told me that they have not got to my I-485 application because they are currently working on I-485 applications with RDs of April 2007 and my RD is June 2007 like yours.

Congrats to all those who have received their approvals. Do you get a "Card Production Ordered" email or "Welcome" email or both?
My attorney got an e-mail, i haven't gotten an e-mail yet. But i checked my online case status, which says card production ordered, should have card in 30 days time. My atty said that they are having some trouble right now with card production, so maybe that is why it says 30 days instead of 10 business days as it did in the past.

Application efiled at NSC on April 14.
Still no sign of the EAD
NSC is slow compared to TSC and also they start the EAD on the day it is approved and not when the previous one expires.
Somebody, needs to take this up with the Ombudsman due to difference in the processing policies and times for EAD renewals.
Application received by NSC on April 8th.

Seems still there are number of April filers case are pending (Ffiling).
Here and there there are cases approved who filed June also but that is less than 1%. We should not consider them.
I called yesterday - Representative told me that they are working on April 21-25th cases as of yesterday.
God knows when they come to JUNE.
At least they have to take out the bar to file with in 120 days rule.

There is something called fraud protection fee that companies pay for initial H1's. So USCIS has the funds to protect the fraud, the question lies if they are really implementing it.
The GOVT should state that those who apply for H1 should make it mandatory for the employees to be in US within 30 - 45 days of obtaining US Visas and be present in US on employment in continous increments of 1 year. And they need to show pay stubs continously.
- Then we can easily filter out WIPRO, Infosys, Consulting company from misusing. For example Wipro will apply 5000 H1s and then send people when they eventually get a project, out of 5000, may be 1000 may show up in 6 months. So In this case 4000 H1s can get invalid. Indian companies find it sending people overseas is expensive business and would enjoy offshoring projects. If the govt makes this rule, consulting companues will be forced to start paying H1 folks from Day 1, no bench period, plus "Candidates need to show up in person immdlty in US". We kill 2 birds with 1 stone. 1, dummy H1s will not be applied, 2, if they approve H1s then they have to send engineers immdlty for which they may not be really ready, since they only anticipate projects and may not need so many H1s right away !...

Second question is, In my old passport there are 2 valid US visas, 10 Yr B1 and 3 yr H1. How do I get them on to new passport?
You don't have to ( you cannot) transfer visas to the new passport. You will have to carry both old and new passport together all the time. POE officers/Indian immigration officers will use the old passport to get all your visa and travel information.

I am in a similar situation. After failing to get a definite answer on the exact time taken by the process of changing status to H4 while in the US, I have decided to take a trip to India to get this stamped instead. I was told that change of status to H4 needs to be approved before starting school, simply showing proof of having applied for COS is insufficient. But if you apply for change of status to F1,then approval is not required before starting school. However I would suggest you confirm this from your lawyer/school.

I am sure it was exciting news for us to hear. However, it appears the Immigration provision were removed before passing the bill. This is another proof that the IV core are right on track. It appears like they have good information and that immigration-related bills and changes will be passed in immigration bill itself and not attached to other bills. I think the congress will address the all the immigrant issues in a new CIR or some new immigration bill.
