Hi All,
Regarding my I-485 appln. status - I do vaguely remember seeing "Request for Evidence" status before. Currently I see "Request for Evidence Response Review". I see this status change although there are no LUDs.

I highly doubt any one with a full time job will trade enough volume for it to be cost effective to claim trader status when filing taxes. If you trade for a living,not work as a trader then it makes absolute sense to file as a trader.
What is the advantage of claiming trader status on your tax return? I buy / sell shares on different days of the week (example: Buy on Monday, Sell on Friday). Does that make me a day trader?
I am doing this on H1B. I do have approved EAD.

I asked the admin and other senior people. But no one bothers to respond.
I have been in touch with the the administrators and they have been very prompt and supportive regarding this initiative. We have been communicating almost on a daily basis.
Like any other initiative or the campaign, the more people and voices we have the stronger the campaign is, I am glad to see the 50 number mark but if we need to make this a solid campaign we need to have at least twice as many people as what we have now. Imagine how many people apply for LC, 50 of them having issue with the process is not going to convince any body that there is a problem.
I am still trying to get people together but that does not prevent us from brain-storming the ideas or even taking actions that does not require a mass scale of support from other people (e.g. lobbying with politicians, etc.)

Will the reply be made public? Grassley and Durbin wrote to TCS, Infosys and other big bodyshoppers with a list of questions. The replies were never made public.
Also, wonder if greencards issued without security clearance will be revoked? Anything is possible in this immigration circus.

This is why everyone is stuck in greencard queue and will be stuck forever if they do not do anything about their situation. They will spend hours every day on forums and trackers,give their expert back seat driving comments ... but will not do anything as a community to help themselves. When some asks me the reasons for immigration problems and starts blaming the system, I have now a days started blaming them for the problems they are complaining about. Here is the proof:
It is Mar 22 and we still have only 2 members from NY!!!!!!! that has a huge population of our members. We need at least a couple more to register for the 3 days in DC - Sun, Mon and Tue Apr 3-5.
We are missing people from several midwest states.
We are not even half way in our contribution goal. Please rally people on all forums. Call your friends, post on your facebook, tweet, email and spread the word. If you have a website or blog/ know someone who has a website with lot of immigrant visitors/ can reach out to others who run websites request them to post information about this event on their homepage to show support for this effort. You can comment on this thread once it is posted so that it encourages others.

1. my friends 04 BEC was approved yesterday. check yours. it might have got approved or will be in few weeks, so prepare ur 485 papers and be ready to file even on Aug16th.
2. u r only losing the ability to get EAD n AP. You will get GC according to ur priroity date.

Yes after Logiclife gave an update I was not anymore excited about it and did not want to loose sleep over it. Thats because I trust IV. But its always good to clear the facts. Anyways, we should keep working for our goal and hope for some improvement in retrogression.

What was your PD ,and wating time for I-140.(ie I-140 applied and approved date.)
OK I'm from ROW EB3. PD Apr 2003. 140 and 485 were filed concurrently in June 2004. I 140 was approved in 1 week (I guess because my son was aging out) and I-485 for all family were approved in June 2007.

The first step you should get your employer to do is to file a job order in the state job bank or americas job bank. You have to keep this ad for 30 days and then wait another 30 days to file PERM. This is the longest time. All other forms of recruitment needs to wait only 30 days and you can file PERM on the 31st day. There is no mention of working days or weekends, it is 30 continuous days. As you know in addition to this job bank order, and two Sunday newspaper ads, there has to be three other forms of recruitment before you can file PERM. If your employer and lawyer are really proactive it will only take 60 days to file PERM from start to finish. You also have to get a prevailing wage determination and post it at your job site for 10 days not including holidays and weekends. Hope this helps. I have told them that Im the only bread earner of the family and the cost of living in the area that i live is very high and that I have bills to pay. But they have denied my request. i dont know what other financial hardship should I show them. Maybe I should declare bankruptcy and then send that over to USCIS to show that I really have financial hardship.
I have infopass appointment on 14th I will try to raise the same issue again and see what they will say

I think CITIZENShip years Credit or Reduction in the years is Make most sense for the highly skilled immigrant from India and China as those are the people who suffers most because of backlog and name check.
I also think we should stick to the "five year federal taxes paid" beacuse that is what they expect from normal family based GC holder. Also adding Masters and Higher degrees in the STEM fields attract possible more support.
We should not talk any where close to 10 /15 years waiting time as that is not what current system of citizesnship talks about.
Also marriage based GC already has 3 years after GC rule so it may beeasy to get it.
Making it more complicated like Percent credit for before GC filing, after GC filing, after getting GC May become hard and complicated to convenince politicains who might be amending those rules.
So Keeping it simple - 5 yr federal taxes, MS or higher in STEM, 3 years after GC - you get citizenship (all of these has precedents)

Some folks can't even bear the thought if some one thinks they should try to influence the law makers.
Illegals have nothing to lose. If CIR happens...they celebrate, now that they can all be legal and apply for their families to follow them
If CIR does not happen...they still continue to live here, work their jobs, keep sending money home, and try and get their relatives over here by paying the "coyotes"...it makes no difference to them.
Even if these guys are legalised, they will still NOT pay taxes, NOT learn english, NOT try and be upstanding residents.
They have huge numers, both in population and political support.
They represent a MASSIVE democratic vote bank.
WE (EB) have none of the above and a lot to lose)
Hence, the attitude.

However, the million dollar question is how do you know the prices have actually bottomed one? Won't you go ahead and buy if its affordable, instead of wasting precious years which shorten the career span and deferring your decision?
Instead of affordability, I think we should see the parity between renting and cost of ownership instead of seeing affordability. If you can rent the same/similar place for significantly cheaper price, rent it. That would be a wise financial decision.
If I have a million dollars in cash, I can afford a 600K house in my area but why should I if I know the house does not deserve to be 600K and most likely it will come down in price? Just because you can afford does not mean you should throw away money.
Regarding finding the bottom, follow this thumb rule for now:
You would not see any recovery of any sort in economy or housing until and unless you see a turn around in financials. So just closely follow them. Right now turn around in financial companies and banks is no where in picture.

Well I am one of those guys who visits immigrationvoice almost on a daily basis and benefit a lot, but never bothered to even think about making a contribution.
The reason behind this is not so much a matter of not wanting to contribute, but just a preconceived notion of "What difference can my contribution make".
Your post is certainly an eye opener.
We complain so much about the lack of a quick turnaround for our issues, yet expect someone else to work to resolve the problem, while shamelessly hoping to benefit from the resolution with zero participation in the efforts.
Sorry IV, for my past indifference. I have started my monthly $20 contribution and hope to increase it in the near future.
