So basically, an unlawfull alien residing in US for past 5 years gets change his status to PR, moreover he is not restricted by the per country limit he can go from filing I-485 to get a Visa number allotted to him practically overnight..and not having to wait like folks from India or China ....
I dont think this bills has anything favourable to legal immigrants... It better to apply as the other category ....

I can understand cases where dates are current. But how they decide on cases which might have "visas available in coming months"? Do they know beforehand the movement of dates for coming months? or does that mean they continue pre-adjudicating cases in an order (probably by Priority Date)?

It is getting clear now why Legal Backlogs are not touched in this present Bill.

The fact that the law permits some things, does not have any bearing on the moral severity or the lack thereof, of those things. Would you choose a 'prostitute' over a 'shop lifter' for a wife? If these are the only 2 options, I would be content with a shop lifter. Would you choose a 'prostitute' because there are no criminal issues involved and you will get your greencard faster?

May be this is not a prediction thread. But the OP and some others are all about VB in another thread or two. While I personally dont have any issue with it, it just frustates me that people dont understand that VB is not going to do any magic for PD's in 2003 or later. C mon Lets be realistic. After doing all the math in so many threads, Does any one expect that the PD will be some where in the ending of 2003. Hell no. Then why is that we have a Dec Bulletin thread way back? Now some one is gonna come start a Jan prediction thread. Useless. I hate to comment on this but I hope people understand the difference between discussion as you said(which I personally agree) and useless predictions when they can make educated guess and do something else.

As far as the futility of predictions go, I agree with you. the beauty of this thread is in seeing someone (like GCanyMinute) say that their PD is now current. while we commiserate about our condition, it is the ray of hope that keeps all of us sane does it not?

When does the "Approval notice sent" status appear, it is about 7 days since I got the production ordered.

My lawyer advised against filing AC21 proactively. His opinion is that it may trigger a big RFE requiring financial details of the new employer. How true is this? I have a feeling my previous employer might withdraw my approved I-140 on the advice of their corporate lawyers (Fragomen, who I believe recommend I-140 withdrawal as past of their standard procedure when an employee leaves). I would like to preempt that and file AC21 documentation.

Hi,
I have a question about leave of absense. Does it mean that you are still employed with them if you apply for LOA? If yes then you cannot work for another employer at the same time, not on H1B atleast.
I would like the gurus to share their opinion of the following option:
Join the new job and start working there. If there is an RFE in future then you can go to your old employer and ask for a offer letter (with the promise that you may or may not joined them) and also one from your current (old) employer. If the adjucating officer says that the letter from the current employer does not qualify under the same/similar category then you can show him the letter from the old employer offering you a job. This will satisfy the requirements of having a job offer at the time of adjudication. Though in this case you will have to join your old employer.
Gurus: Is this possible? Or are there kinks in this theory?

We applied at TSC (e-filed) 2 weeks earlier than your and got a decision last week. So you probably could get a decision soon in about 2 weeks.

If you have applied for 485, you can get DL extension for 1 year based on receipt notice of I-485

I received my receipts, FP notice and EAD all at same time.. YAHHHHHOOOOOOOO
USCIS found out that I attended IV Social Event and sent me my EAD ;)..
