It's just a dinner price! If you ever go out on a good dinner with a family, it usually costs about $50. I am barely meeting my daily bills as of now, but I don't hesitate donating in the amount of $100 and I have done it 4 times so far in the recent past.
It still holds: "You get more than what you give to others for the good cause."

I have been wanting to make an IV contribution for a long time and here is my problem..I probably can be labeled a miseror a magpie! ..Whenever I go to the IV link to contribute and see the $50 or $100 option I panic and get out..yes I do!

But hey is'nt IV the one which is at the receiving end not getting our contributions..
I speak from my own experience and call me a mapie or a miser..or whatever..I cant make myself make a $50 or more contribution .. thats the way I am..But I can sure make a smaller contribution (like a monthly recurring $10 contribution which really is easier to make) and I am quite sure IV will benefit from my small contributions as well as i think a lot more people will not hesitate making contributions in smaller denominations than a whopper $50+
And really this is not related to IV effort but more to do with my own way of thinking about parting with my money..I love my money..:)...

I guess the last two quarters April-June, July-September should see huge jumps as vdlrao suggested. Any unused numbers from ROW and EB-1 categories should start flowing towards the EB-2 Chindia. This would be time when Chindia's EB-2 will have the same processing dates. I can't wait for it to reach December 2005.

My EAD is set to expire Oct 8th 2008.
So I applied for renewal on Jun 16th via USPS express overnight mail to Texas.
I live in Pennsylvania so had to post it to TEXAS.
USCIS already cashed the check and sent me a receipt notice!
Seriously that was ultra fast.
Since they recently announced about 2 year EADs which will be issued from Jun 30 onwards, I am concerned that the fact that they cashed the check so fast, do you think they will also give me a EAD fast, that too before Jun 30th ? If they do will that be valid for one year or 2 years? If they wait for issuing, and if that happens after Jun 30, will that be a 2 year or a 1 year one?

Thanks! That's helpful... from what you say, sounds like PD is still quite important. RD comes into the picture only after the PD becomes current. However, if a range of PD's are current, then they would sort those by RD and not by PD.
For eg, if they move the dates forward by a year, and Jan 04 and Jan 05 are both now current, a person with PD of Jan 05 but an earlier RD would still get processed prior to an application with PD Jan 04 and a later RD (according to the FIFO principle)...
PD is the basic qualification and after that its all Luck .....Its a lottery ...

Did u visit PennDot office to inquire about the renewal of DL with receipt notice of H1b extension or AAA office can be of any help ?

This question has been bugging the HECK out of me as well. I mean the only way this makes sense is if 245(i) + EB3 for India >> 245(i) for Mexico. Now from all that i have read/heard/seen, it seems like 245(i) is the major hurdle. Then how is it that EB3 India is stuck and everyone else is moving? The above equation must mean that there is a SIGNIFICANT number of 245(i) cases from India as well. Any thoughts anyone? :confused:

This is called waste of brain power ... cramming as much as you can from the dictionary and god knows what. It would have been much better if a child learns some skill or diverts the mind towards exploring a problem or invention . What use is cramming the dictionary when it is available right on your phone now . If you have the internet all the world's knowledge is searchable.
There are much better uses for the brain power.
People can have different opinion about this ---cramming or not cramming but matter of the fact is that is still a great achievement .
Proves that we indian rock in whatever we decide to do in life and that can be medicine/IT/Law/ working to do some invention / spelling or whatever. People can have different intrests in life but matter of fact stays same that we indians are one of the most hard working race.

Since you have negotiated 70:30 before joining, you must have agreed to paying H1b Fee. And yours is an H1 transfer and you new how this business works and signed the contract!

They always looking for higher pay rate sp that their big money tummy get filled up.and i also feel that they didnt told me the right pay rate for the project i am working on right now.
I really want to leave them, Even before 12 months. Is there any importance of that contract letter i signed with them?. Can they Sue me? What are my options? Please suggest me.....i am in stress.

Are you kidding us? I do not know what level of education you have achieved so far in your life but it looks like you are not enough educated to differentiate between the definitions of permanent residency, citizenship and perhaps working on work visa as far as legal stay in USA by outsider is concerned.
What would be the "legal" reply from US Supreme court,if you ask US supreme court that whether citizen of other country can call US president a "My president"? . And What would be the "legal" reply from Supreme court of country A,if you ask that whether citizen of country A can call US president a "his/her president"?

And what is expected legally is one is not involved in "Anti USA" activity whatsoever it may be.USA legally never expects citizen of other country "to love" or "show fidelity" towards USA when s/he is still the citizen of other country.

First of all when somebody comes here in USA on work visa, s/he has come on invitation from USA base legal employer's willingness and is ethically, legally and morally obligated to provide professional class and quality of work for what s/he is hired. Nothing more or less is legally expected by USA and employment system within USA. USA and its whole society is well aware that these persons are citizen of other countries and so they never expects any kind of fidelity from them at least "legally" and at the same time they even do not grant the rights what US citizen nornmally have. Now out of that bunch many people prefer to go for permanent residency as permanent residency bring little bit stability in living and flexibility in employment and international travel. If one becomes a permanent resident of USA then also USA still only expects that person abide by the law of the land and do not involve in "anti USA" activity. It still does not expect "fidelity" towards USA in legal sense.There is no legal or social or political or any kind of pressure from USA or any governmental or non governmental institutes within USA on any particular person coming from other country to become its citizen. One can stay on permanent residency forever till death(At least based on current prevalent law) and legally work and s/he does not have to become a citizen for working legally. And I do not know about other countries but in India it is not considered "illegal" and/or "unpatriotic" to go in other country(Except Pakistan and Bangladesh) for legal work so coming to USA for legal work whether on work visa or becoming a permanent resident in USA while maintaining Indian citizenship simultaneously is not unpatriotic or illegal. Guys, i'm not a member of the IC board or anything, but it's clear to me the benefits of contributing.
Illegals are contributing money, and more importantly their time and particpating in rallies en masse, meeting lawmakers, talking with the press, etc....folks, i'm not saying everyone can do such things here....but the leasst you could do is contribute $100 or $200 to this effort. Writing a check is the simplest thing to do....no one is asking you to stand in the cold air rallying for the cause (altho that would be helpful too...but i know many folks on the west coast, texas, etc probably won't be able to make it).
To put this more directly, if no relief comes out of this immigration reform session for us legal, skilled immigrants, you will have no one else but yourself to blame:(

1) You need to determine sufficient coverage. If you have a mortgage and children, $500K is the minimum. A 30 year term non-smoker age 35+ should be about $350/year. You usually get a discount if you buy a policy for your wife too. If you try to purchase a whole life for $500K coverage, the premium will be ridiculous...probably $1500 to $2K/year.
2) I always remind myself of the KISS rule (Keep it simple stupid). If you want protection buy term insurance, if you want to save/invest buy stocks, mutual funds, bonds, etc. Don't try to mix them.
3) To protect your familiy, think of the 3 areas: Death, disability and illness. Dying is the easy part...you die, your family gets a lump sum. The worst is that you DON'T die, but have a terminal illness (e.g. cancer), have no job and then incur substantial medical bills. Remember to cover all areas.
