Renewal of License or a New one for H1 or H4 or related visa... is fully based on I797... this rule has been applied since last 3years.. who all arrived in PA before 2002 or so... are safe they get the license renewed for more than 5 years but who are after that gets only renewed as per the I797 expiry date.. the problem lies what our I797 gets delayed, we cant drive ... sit home ... does anyone have a work around or dealt with such situation

This now will give me a 2 year EAD. and even after 2 years If I dont get a GC, I will be able to reapply for EAD, at that time WITHOUT any FEES!!

I agree with both the ideas.
In fact the idea of the banner with 'Waiting for X years' is fantastic ..
That would be an amazing sight where everyone holds placards that say since when they have been waiting.
If it's even 400 people .. we have 400 people saying look we've been waiting since 5,7 or 9 years.
It's also important to get in heavyweights like either local folks like Google HR head or any public face. Google has always supported the Immigration issues .. since they have problems because they couldn't hire folks when the h1 lottery happenned.

In my humble opinion, if people who have been illegal in US for over 5 years are granted legality, then the govt should
1) Close the backlog processing centers where our cases have been languishing for years
2) Grant us green cards if we can show minimal proof that we did infact file for permanancy legally at some point in time.

Do not forget that our employers have paid big bucks for every H1B, and additionally paid for the creation of the backlog reduction center, where they are painstakingly poring over each and every case with a toothcomb.

The party was mostly good. I only regret that sometimes, I could not hear what people on the other side of the table were talking about. The room was too dark and not quiet enough. It might have been better if we had a round table.

Recently I returned after a one month trip to India. At DC airport the CBP secondary inspection officer grilled us rough. First he called my wife and asked why did we leave US. She told that since my parents are old and not in good health we visited them. Then he started asking for documents proving it. And told us that without documents he won't let us enter. He went on to say that AP is only on humanitarian basis and unless CBP officer is satisfied with proof they cannot allow AP holder to enter. Finally after convincing him for another 30 min he let us in.
This was a really shocking experience. Are employment based GC's AP supposed to be treated like humanitarian AP? or was the CBP officer over reacting? Gurus please throw some light.

If you could send checks instead of paypal, it would help us save transaction fees. Every penny counts. I myself don't quite understand how exactly education and years of experience are translated into years of SVP. When on my PERM I had MS +5 years of experience required, they said on the denial notice: "The total time time for education, training, and experience entered on Form ETA 9089 equals 5". Which exceeds maximum of 4 years for level 7 (zone IV) and that's why they denied it (again, despite I didn't claim that that the requirements are "normal"). Apparently this 5 is not just experience years, nor just years of education. Does somebody understand how exactly the SVP time is calculated from degree and experience?

Based on my reading I would like to provide few AP Renewal FACTS for the I-485 pending cases:
1) You need to submit 2 recent photos.
2) You do not need to submit $80 FP fee.
3) As per the text, you do not need to provide the letter justifying your request for AP, but I think it would not harm giving one. The reason does not have to be an emergent situation, it could simply be "Family Visit".
Please correct (or) add more.
