I'm no immigration lawyer and the views expressed here are strictly based on my understanding only!

Always check with your attorney before acting upon items suggested in the forums.

Btw, did you sign up for the DC rally on 13th sept???

If this rule comes then can a employee get a EAD?

I dont think so. I hope it does not happen. Now atleast if your PD is current you can get the EAD.

Most don't even read emails they get in office fully..

If your office colleagues do not even read your emails sent by your office ID fully how do they conduct business?

    Everyone:
This is turning into a heated debate between people over a situation that rarely someone who is careful gets in. People have shown up to airports with expired passports and had to go home and take flight a week later. Mistakes like that happen all the time, rarely it is allowed to go this far where your mistake is realized at the end of travel, rather than at the begining(boarding the first flight out).

Since we are here to solve immigration problems here and we are trying to immigrate to USA, please let's not fight over issues that are not even tied to that. If you have time on your hands, please talk to your peers who are in retrogression or labor backlogs to join this effort rather than discussing the actions of Indian officials and corruption in India.

Lesson learned: Travel with proper documentation otherwise face deportation.

    Rest everything else is opinion.

I would like to ask the same question as ps57002.

It is very important for all those who filed their I-485 and had to travel, before receiving their receipt notice.

    Ok guys,

Why exactly are we thrashing someone who is still helping out IV even after his GC was approved? On the one hand we lament that people run off never to be seen again once they get their GC, on the other we flame them when they return.

We can forgive a person who is trying to divide us into small groups (like against EB3 Porting to EB2), because they are also right now suffering and trying to get something done.

But the second paragraph he wrote is a mess. How can one think of selling on poor.

You seem to be very senior and I have been here for a very short period. Visiting all threads, there are so many, getting green card, say thanks and go out. Some came back with some suggestions. But I have never seen anyone posting like this.

Does anyone care about anyone's business here... If he is leading a good life, we are happy, thats all we want to know.

Agree with you, I apologize for it even if his intentions are towards insulting us or promoting his business.

I certainly am not missing the point qplearn, and agree with most part on what people posted.

But there has to be wake up post too, and my message is being missed too. "YOU CANNOT TAKE a CHANCE." in todays world, you will end up bitterly dissapointed, if you did that.

As far as if this would happen to a US citizen with Indian Children, it definitely would and happens every day. Interpretation of law (where ever interpretation is allowed) varies person to person (the interpreter). Consider NSC vs TSC on I140 approvals and 3 year/combination of degree issue). This happens every where and India is no exception. I think in this instance what is wrong is our expectation of what grover should have done.

I mentioned it previously as well that we should file a law suit to know about the visa numbers being used properly by USCIS during the last few years just like the Asylees did and won the case which helped them get their GCs faster. What do you say guys??

I think there was a drive on immigration portal to do just that. They tried to collect money by asking people to donate $100 per member. The total money contributed was far short of the amount needed for a lawsuit.

Donot give up.fight fight & fight. Those guys donot know, how they are messing up our lives

First of all you "think" that it is going to be positive. It it NOT definitely positive. My wife has worked in hospital before so her skin is exposed to TB. Her X-ray was developed in 5 min.

You have enough time to get your medical done even if you dont have option to go to other doctor to speed up x-ray process.

    Hello everyone,

I got my TB skin test solution in my forearm on Friday evening. I have to visit the Doctor again on Monday to show them my forearm for the result. There is a mild swell on my arm today (30 hours) and I am thinking the skin test is going to be positive. My Doctor warned me before we started all this. He told me people from India sometimes show positive on Mantoux test and they usually get an X-Ray and then TB is declared negative after that. He told me it takes a week to finish the X-Ray process.

I am wondering if they are any members who had a positive TB Skin test and had to get their X-Ray done. Why does this procedure take 1 full week? How long did it take for you? Any more inputs on what to do? is this a big deal?

Note: I was not sure if a thread existed for such questions. Hence, I started a new one. Moderators, feel free to move my question to the relevant thread if it exists.

I wanted to thank you all for your advice. We have been digging into what happened and finally figured it out.

I did get my GC in the mail...to tell you the truth, I could not believe I was holding THE thing in my hands and walked around with it the entire day!! :-)

While we had submitted I-485/ EAD and AP forms based on my husbands approved I-140 (EB3, PD: Nov 2005), it looks like the GC was approved based on an I-140 that I had in my name (EB2, PD: Feb 2005), which is now current. Fortunately, since I have listed my husband as a dependent on my I-140 forms, we will be able to apply for his I-485 also now and try to get his GC since the dates are current.

So it appears, my GC is real after all!
    Thanks everyone.

    Congrats !
    Enjoy the freedom.

Great news ...I do have a concern that this will create a severe backlog at the 485 stage where USCIS does not follow any order of processing.

I have quite a few friends and colleagues who were able to apply for 485 in July 07' but since then have no idea when they will get their actual green cards...

Either ways, glad to see this progress!

It does not matter whether we are EB2/3. We all need to get together and start a positive campaign to help ourselves.
We do need to lobby hard and all of us need to visit our lawmakers:

We do have a paid lobbying firm that represent our interests and educates lawmakers. This is not enough, because during debates lawmakers behave as if they do not have highly skilled immigrants in their constituency and so do not have to pay attention. This is mainly IV members fault, since we have not been able to visit lawmakers offices in the numbers that we should. Our members need to show up at lawmakers offices and educate them. Tell them you live in their constituency and represent IV so that when the lobbying firm does their work, they are paying attention and our voices are not ignored or drowned.

Individual members need to be open, honest, and courageous enough to talk to their lawmakers and media about issues we face. Just crying and debating on IV's website does not help.

Secondly: Let us Start a campaign specifically for collecting money in preparation for the CIR effort.

General IV Donations is the money raised for lobbying. Lobbying takes up a big chunk of this effort. This is what we need specifically to prepare ourselves for 2010 CIR.
But the reality is that individual contributions do not add up to reflect the strength of our organisation. We are 30,000 strong but are unable to collect even $10,000 every month. That is less than 30 cents per member per month.
